Child Care Consultant - Atlantic, Iowa

Job Summary

Recruit, educate, and advocate for child care providers while utilizing a quality rating system for program planning and staff development. Gain working knowledge of State of Iowa Administrative Code to guide initiatives defined by National Standards for early childhood. Maintain cooperative relationships with local Health & Human Services staff to ensure technical assistance aligns with compliance issues. Promote provider, parent, and community services through marketing and meetings. Complete the I-Consult Certification and demonstrate sound technical and computer skills. This role includes evening and Saturday hours as needed for training, with a typical Mon-Fri schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Gain and demonstrate working knowledge of State of Iowa Administrative Code for each type of child care setting
  • Complete the I-Consult Certification as detailed by the Scope of Services
  • Sound technical and computer skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts or Sciences with an emphasis or education based in Early Childhood, or similar degree
  • Own dependable transportation
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Maintain up to date auto liability insurance
  • Available for evening and Saturday hours as needed
  • Must be able to work Mon thru Fri with other hours or days of the week as needed
  • Complete background check which includes an FBI fingerprint record check

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting, educating, providing technical assistance to and advocating for child care providers
  • Experience utilizing a quality rating system for program planning and staff development
  • Knowledge of best practices as defined by Caring for Our Children, National Standards for early childhood
  • Cooperative working relationship with local Health & Human Services (HHS) staff assigned for child care registration, licensure, and/or compliance
  • Experience promoting CCR&R provider, parent and community services through marketing materials and meetings throughout the communities
