Job Summary
Assist the lead teacher in the classroom by ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment that promotes learning and progress. Implement the Creative Curriculum while maintaining open communication with the Lead Teacher to receive direction and ideas. Provide a safe and fun environment for children to play, learn, and grow, while performing cleaning duties as outlined in the classroom checklist. Complete paperwork including daily activity sheets, accident reports, and portfolio documentation on each child's learning, progress, and development. Participate in continuing education, including classes, conferences, workshops, and in-services to enhance teaching knowledge, with a requirement of 16 clock hours per calendar year. Communicate with the director regarding issues, concerns, supplies, or needs within the classroom and maintain appropriate communication with other staff members, children, and parents. Work within the guidelines of the YMCA's mission and fulfill all other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Must be responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and able to communicate effectively
- Previous child care experience
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid
- Must have good oral and written communications skills, including computer skills
- Outgoing personality and experience engaging with the public by phone and in person
- Current CDA credential
- Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework
