Job Summary
Provide care for children in assigned groups, stressing individual needs within the developmental framework of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Assist in creating an environment conducive to a child's continuing development by facilitating successful encounters with adults, peers, and the physical environment. Offer activities that challenge children within their appropriate developmental levels while fostering feelings of confidence and well-being. Complete DCF Introductory forty (40)-clock-hour Child Care Training and five (5)-clock-hour Early Literacy and Language Development courses within 90 days of hire or transfer.
Required Qualifications
- DCF Introductory forty (40)-clock-hour Child Care Training comprised of Part I and Part II courses and five (5)-clock-hour (or .5 Continuing Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development
- HS EQ: High School Diploma, GEC or Certificate
- Background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
Desired Qualifications
- demonstrated ability to use correct grammar and spelling in writing parent notes, incident reports and communication boards
- demonstrated ability to work and plan with other caregivers in a team setting
- demonstrated ability to write notes and fill out incident reports
- expert interpersonal and attention to detail skills
- flexibility in working with several age groups of children
- interest in learning early childhood development
- patience, enthusiasm and respect for children
- one (1) to four (4) years of experience working with children in a classroom setting
