Child Care Assistant Provider

Job Summary
Assist the classroom provider with students to meet instructional goals by carrying out daily schedules and overseeing indoor/outdoor activities. Respond quickly to emergency situations, comfort upset children, and intervene when physical aggression occurs. Foster self-help skills like feeding and grooming while guiding children to resolve conflicts and redirect behavior. Treat all children with equal respect across diverse backgrounds and lift up to 40 lbs as needed. Work a split shift daily with flexible hours dependent on enrollment, requiring CPR and First Aid certification. Available for all classrooms when needed to support the Lake Orion Community Schools program.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma
- Must meet all required qualifications as stated in Licensing Rule Book and program specific manual
- Must be flexible to work a split shift daily
- Must be flexible to work in all child care classrooms when needed
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents
- Awareness of child development theory and practices
- Knowledge of social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students
- Ability to treat children with kindness and respect
- Self-motivated, dependable and responsible
- Must be available and able to perform functions of the job
- CPR, First Aide Certificate required
- Good attendance record
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- CDA or Associate degree in early childhood
- Minimum of one to two years of early childhood and/or child care experience
