Job Summary
Plan and execute early childhood education experiences using age-appropriate materials to promote the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children. Develop and implement curriculum with the director and teachers while establishing a program environment that fosters positive interactions among children, youth, and adults. Monitor children in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, restrooms, and during meals to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Perform routine caregiving tasks, assist with physical needs, prepare activity areas, and maintain program participation data through required daily reports. Interact professionally with staff, parents, and the command while adhering to approved child guidance techniques. This developmental position leads to the full performance level Child Care Assistant, NF-1702-02, with potential for promotion after one year of satisfactory performance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write and speak in English
- Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with children, youth, and coworkers
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds
- Physical ability to sit and rise from the floor
- Physical ability to walk
- Physical ability to bend
- Physical ability to stoop
- Physical ability to stand on a routine basis
- Ability to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation, to include state checks
- Ability to satisfactorily pass the Civilian Medical Clearance Examination
- US Citizenship or valid authorization to work in the US
- Ability to satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check
