Job Summary
Support school age children in a safe, secure environment by assisting with crafts, games, stories, and lunchtime activities while monitoring the playground. Plan and organize daily events, communicate with staff and the community to answer questions, and maintain confidentiality. Read and interpret school policies, respond to emergency situations, and interact effectively with students, including those with special needs. This role supports the S.A.C.C. Director at Mohawk Elementary School, located in Clinton Township, MI, with shifts available Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years or older
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations
- Good communication skills
- Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students
- Ability to relate to children with special needs
- Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of files, materials, computer and audio visual equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children's groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare
