Job Summary
Monitor children on the playground, lead crafts, games, and stories, and assist in planning daily events to ensure a safe, secure learning environment. Communicate with staff, students, and the community to answer questions and disseminate information while maintaining confidentiality. Read and interpret school policies, handle materials up to 30 pounds, and provide care for children with special needs. Work Monday through Friday in a moderate to loud environment, with shifts available from 6:45am to 9:00am or 3:30pm to 6:00pm.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years or older
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations
- Good communication skills
- Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students
- Ability to relate to children with special needs
- Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of files, materials, computer and audio visual equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children's groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare
