Job Summary
Act as the independent design compliance authority, classifying engineering data as acceptable or unacceptable and ensuring product certification compliance for static load-carrying structures. Review DQA outputs, product requirements, and design verification evidence through Configuration Control Boards, preparing and maintaining certification documentation aligned with FAA, EASA Part 21, and AS9100 standards. Lead key design and airworthiness reviews including Concept Reviews, PDR, CDR, and DDR while serving as the technical authority for design decisions and change impact evaluations. Establish verification strategies, safety assessments, and compliance reports to support structural integrity and regulatory approvals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement using 8D, DMAIC, and FMEA methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a high level of engineering functional knowledge (typically Technical Excellence Framework level 4 or higher in an appropriate Area of Expertise)
- Must possess the highest level of technical project leadership
- Must possess the highest level of problem-solving skills in both technical and programme management disciplines
- Must possess the highest level of interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's or master's Degree in (Mechanical/ Aerospace) Engineering or equivalent working and thinking Level gained through experience
- At least 15+ years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline
- At least 10+ years product development experience
- Knowledge of Airworthiness requirements from a DOA perspective
- Knowledge of classification of product and characteristics
- Knowledge of aviation regulations (e.g. EASA, FAA, AS9100) and airworthiness standard
- Extensive experience with Negotiation with external stakeholder regarding rebalancing requirements
- Solid approach/understanding to the delivery and tracking of engineering tasks
- Identification of relevant risks assessed and mitigates as planned and documented in DFMEA
- Ability to clearly present data, reports and presentations to facilitate the decision-making process at all levels of the business
- Should have prior experience of being part of design gate review in the role of technical reviewer
- Should have prior experience of being part of team working on concepts for new product development
- Strong minded, convincing and committed, focussed on delivery, must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Should have prior experience have having handled AOG's and product non-conformances and escapes
