Job Summary
CTO role leading engineering/tech strategy for a U.S. VTOL drone aerospace company. Defines and executes strategic technology vision, builds and leads an engineering organization, drives full product lifecycle from R&D through manufacturing, ensures DoD program readiness, and manages a robust global supply chain. Focus areas include hydrogen systems, autonomy, avionics, thermal management, and modular architectures. Requires leadership experience at the senior engineering level (Head/VP/CTO) in defense or dual-use tech, proven ability to interface with government/defense stakeholders, and a track record of delivering hardware-software programs into manufacturing. Onsite in Sterling, VA with hybrid option for nearby candidates; relocation possible. Education: BS, Masters, PhD, etc; deep expertise in DoD programs and aerospace hardware/software integration.
Required Qualifications
- Education: BS, Masters, PhD, etc
- Experience as a Head of Engineering, VP of Engineering, CTO, or equivalent in a defense or dual-use technology company
- Strong understanding of DoD program readiness stages and ability to navigate defense procurement and contracting processes
- Proven ability to interface with government and defense stakeholders while maintaining a commercial mindset
- Proven ability to lead large-scale engineering programs that integrate hardware and software components
- Led drone technology development with a focus on U.S. DoD customers
- Ability to lead full programs through development, testing, and deployment in defense or adjacent sectors
- Education: BS, Masters, PhD, etc
