Job Summary
Chief Technologist overseeing daily operations of imaging services, coordinating assigned staff (Techs, RNs, PAs), allocating personnel and equipment to prioritize patient workflow, ensuring a safe environment with adequate resources, and training staff in imaging. Must be proficient in radiological technology, operating x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment, administering non-intravenous contrast media under physician orders, performing quality control tests, and handling intravascular contrast media administration by DOH-certified individuals. Experience with PACS, Epic, and common hospital IT systems (Midas, EZ Time, Outlook, Word, Excel) is required. The role is within Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, a teaching hospital with stroke and HIV/AIDS programs; the department emphasizes radiology service delivery and staff development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Associates Degree Required
- NYSDOH License Radiological Technologist ARRT Registered Radiological Technologist
- Proficiency in operating x-ray equipment
- Proficiency with PACS, Epic, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook
- Knowledge of radiological technology principles and procedures
- Ability to set up exposure factors on x-ray equipment
- Ability to administer contrast media under physician order
- Quality control testing
- Intravascular contrast media administration by DOH-certified individuals
- Capability to coordinate staff and resources to manage patient workflow
- Operating fluoroscopy equipment under physician supervision
