Job Summary
Chief Strategy & Growth Officer will lead end-to-end implementation of YouthBuild Philly’s five-year strategic direction, coordinating growth initiatives, postsecondary pathway outcomes, and organizational partnerships. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, including drafting board materials, negotiating partnerships, leading space planning and program expansion (e.g., evening school, Ridge Avenue eatery), and ensuring alignment across the executive team and CEO’s office. The CSGO operates as a player-coach, managing a small team while directly contributing to project plans, documentation, and stakeholder engagement. The position emphasizes building and sustaining social enterprise/value-building opportunities, governance and reporting to the CEO and Board, and advancing educational equity and program scale in a nonprofit charter-school context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 3+ years in executive-level leadership
- Experience launching or operating a social enterprise or earned-revenue program strongly preferred
- Experience in charter school, alternative education, or workforce development contexts preferred
- Strong ability to translate vision into operational reality across multi-stakeholder environments
- Ability to design metrics, interrogate numbers, and lead data conversations with senior leaders
- Excellent board-quality writing and facilitation skills
- Ability to influence without authority and drive outcomes across teams
- Experience with cross-functional project management and multi-workstream plans
- Familiarity with Philadelphia’s education, workforce, civic, and funding landscape a plus
