Job Summary
The Chief Engineer, Software will oversee the execution of contractual efforts across design, development, prototyping, production and operation, mentoring technical leads and contract personnel, and collaborating with engineering, services, business development, operations, and clients. Responsibilities include leading diverse technical teams, budgeting and cost management, drafting comprehensive contract reports, pursuing business development opportunities, and translating concepts from idea to working models. Required expertise spans Web applications, cybersecurity, CI/CD, and big data; proficiency in engineering analysis, testing, and design, plus strong organizational skills and cross-functional communication.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Software Engineer, Computer Engineer, Computer Science) from an ABET accredited institution and 13 years of directly related technical experience or Master’s degree in same and 12 years of directly related technical experience or Ph.D. and 10 years of directly related technical experience
- Experience leading technical teams from a variety of different backgrounds and disciplines
- Extensive experience in aerospace, electrical, software, environmental, biomedical, mechanical, and systems engineering
- Knowledge of engineering principles (e.g. analysis, test, and design)
- Superior budgeting and cost management abilities, assessing estimated costs early in the program and bringing the actual costs within budget
- Able to draft clear and comprehensive reports on assigned contracts, the use and allocation of resources, and the quality of each finished program
- Able to perform business development activities including customer interface, estimating and scheduling, technical proposal development, and follow through
- Ability to take a concept from an idea to an actual working model
- knowledge of Web applications, cybersecurity, CI-CD, and big data concepts and technologies
