Job Summary
Design and maintain the bank's risk frameworks, policies, and systems to align with regulatory requirements and business strategy. Articulate divisional and group risk appetite for Board approval, establish governance structures, and embed the three lines of defense model across the organization. Provide specialist guidance on organizational risks, drive a robust risk culture, and integrate risk management into business planning and strategy. Ensure all decisions, including loan requests within delegated authority, align with approved risk tolerances and refer matters to the Risk Committee or Board as required. Participate as a voting member of relevant management committees and develop fit-for-purpose reporting mechanisms for senior management and the Board.
Required Qualifications
- At least 15 years of experience in the financial services industry or other relevant industry
- Previous experience with the C-suiter
- Experience reporting to and interacting with boards
- Experience in risk management roles or relevant industry experience
Desired Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in a finance or risk related discipline is highly desirable
- Significant technical knowledge and expertise in at least one of credit, market, or operational risk within a comparable organisation
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and practices
- Knowledge of how value is created for clients
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment
- Develop and maintain a requisite level of knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards across each relevant regulatory regime
