Job Summary
Conduct organization-wide operational planning by establishing, monitoring, and evaluating KPIs across Marketplace, Membership, IT, Events, Finance, and Publications to guide long-range growth and resource capacity. Drive revenue growth and operational performance by partnering with executive leadership to develop strategies for e-commerce, publishing, and events while evaluating pricing and cost-saving initiatives. Provide strategic leadership and coaching for heads of Marketplace, IT, People & Culture, Finance, and Strategic Initiatives, ensuring clear performance expectations and succession planning. Oversee financial stewardship by partnering with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, while developing risk mitigation strategies and compliance frameworks. Manage enterprise IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital systems to support data-informed decision-making. Prepare periodic updates for the Board of Directors and report on operational performance. This hybrid role requires 5–6 trips annually and offers a salary of $145,000–$175,000.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations
- at least 5 years in a senior or executive role
- experience managing complex projects and cross-functional teams inside a mission-driven organization
- oversight of enterprise operations across multiple functional areas, including IT, HR, Finance, Strategic Initiatives, or e-commerce
- ability to translate strategic plans into operational systems, KPIs, and measurable outcomes
- natural partnership with Finance leadership
- comfort in budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation conversations
- financial acumen to make sound, sustainable operational decisions
- supervision of senior leaders
- ability to build high-performing, accountable teams by coaching people, setting clear expectations, and investing in succession planning
- leadership of organizational change, operational improvements, or systems modernization initiatives
- comfort overseeing digital platforms, enterprise systems, or technology-enabled operations
- understanding of data governance, cybersecurity, or digital risk mitigation practices
- experience developing or overseeing compliance, risk management, or contingency planning frameworks
- sound business judgment and systems thinking
- ability to zoom out to strategy and zoom in to execution in the same week
- hybrid and remote-friendly role availability
- U.S.-based location
- Domestic and international travel approximately 5 – 6 times per year
Desired Qualifications
- An MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- A Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation
- experience in a nonprofit and/or individual membership-based organization
