Job Summary
Chief Mate of the 500T passenger transfer vessel based in Squamish, BC. Primary duties include assisting the Master in planning safe passages, ensuring safe operation and maintenance of the vessel, overseeing safety, compliance with Transport Canada and CSA regulations, and supporting crew development. The role requires extensive vessel management, fuel and spares inventory oversight, routine pre-departure checks, daily reporting for client billing, and mentoring crew, with onboard accommodation provided. Experience with MED safety training, ROC-MC, and other listed certifications is required. The position is a full-time rotational contract located in Squamish, BC, with in-person work as the remote option.
Required Qualifications
- Chief Mate 500T COC issued by Transport Canada or from a country with reciprocal agreement with Transport Canada
- MED training with respect to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than fast rescue boats
- MED Advanced Fire Fighting
- MED Basic Safety Training
- Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC-MC) issued under the Radiocommunication Act
- Marine advanced first aid
- Transport Canada Marine Medical certificate
- Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice
- Excellent comprehension and command of the English language (written & verbal)
