Job Summary
Chief of Strategy, Shared Accountability, and Communications leads the District’s strategic direction, performance management, and internal/external communications as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. Responsible for developing and implementing the District’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment across departments, monitoring progress, and communicating the District’s priorities and outcomes with clarity and transparency. Oversees Research, Assessment, Data and Accountability (RADA) and Communications to ensure data-informed decision-making and effective messaging. Collaborates with the Superintendent, Board of Education, and other senior leaders to align strategy with financial planning, budget development, and district initiatives; builds data literacy, accountability systems, and a cohesive narrative that supports teaching, learning, and student outcomes. The role requires executive leadership experience, Master’s degree (Doctoral preferred), and a track record of leading large-scale district initiatives, data-driven performance management, and effective stakeholder engagement. Essential Job Responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of the district’s strategic plan; supervising Executive Directors and departments (RADA and Communications); ensuring alignment of programs with district strategy; collecting and analyzing data to inform decisions; building shared accountability; overseeing district assessment systems; leading communications to reflect district priorities; preparing reports and updates for the Board of Education; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and performing other duties as assigned. The position is a 240-day contract reporting to the Superintendent and is based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of eight (8) years of leadership and management experience in education or related field
- Experience leading strategic planning, data systems, or organizational improvement
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex information into clear messaging
- Experience presenting to governing boards or senior leadership
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, performance management, organizational development and continuous improvement
- Ability to build trust and relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Experience supervising cross-functional teams and large-scale initiatives
- Ability to align financial planning and budget with district strategy
- Knowledge of instruction, curriculum, and school leadership
