Job Summary
Serve as a trusted advisor to legal leadership, driving cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution while holding stakeholders accountable. Prepare materials for team and leadership meetings, manage meeting cadence, and develop KPIs to measure legal department performance. Design and improve legal workflows, systems, and budgets, including forecasting, spend tracking, and outside counsel fee management. Own the law enforcement and government response team, overseeing intake and response to subpoenas, warrants, and regulatory inquiries. Manage relationships with outside counsel and vendors, negotiating rates and evaluating performance. Support legal team hiring, onboarding, and resource planning. Partner with compliance and security teams to escalate complex requests. Full-time role with four days in-office and Fridays remote for eligible staff. Base salary $148,000–$205,000 plus bonus and equity.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in a combination of chief of staff, legal operations, management consulting, or law firm/in-house legal roles
- Ability to work with and manage team members at all levels while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism, collaboration and discretion
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and vendor negotiation experience
- Strong familiarity with legal technology platforms (CLM, e-billing, matter management systems)
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences
- High degree of discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, prioritize ruthlessly, and drive results in ambiguous environments
- Four days a week in the office and Fridays from home for those near one of our offices
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing law enforcement or government request response processes (e.g., subpoenas, warrants, regulatory inquiries) preferred
