Job Summary
Manage outpatient and inpatient colorectal surgery services across Newport Beach and Irvine, performing endoscopic, trans-anal, open, and advanced laparoscopic/robotic procedures for colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and complex pelvic floor issues. Lead a multidisciplinary team of surgeons and advanced practice providers to oversee patient care, manage call coverage, and drive quality improvement initiatives with the Chief Quality Officer. Direct clinical, educational, and research activities while collaborating with the Hoag Family Cancer Institute for tumor boards and clinical trials. Maintain accurate medical coding, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee program development for the colorectal service line.
Required Qualifications
- A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution
- American Board Certified in Surgery – Colon and Rectal Surgery
- Must have or be eligible for California State Medical licensure
- Completion of a residency program from an ACGME accredited program in surgery
- Fellowship trained from an accredited Colon and Rectal fellowship program
- Ability to obtain full medical staff privileges at Hoag Hospital
- Minimum of 6 years of experience preferred as a surgeon specializing within colorectal/cancer surgery
- Well versed in the surgical and medical management of benign and malignant conditions of the colon and rectum
- History of achievement in program development and program leadership (administrative oversight of personnel and facilities)
- Commitment to multidisciplinary team discussions, ongoing quality improvement, and patient centered initiatives
- Has excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Focused on quality and standard of care
Desired Qualifications
- Complex laparoscopic and/or robotic surgical experience highly preferred
