Job Summary
Chief Human Resources Officer leading HR operations, talent acquisition, and strategic HR and workforce planning across multiple NYC sites with oversight of 8 HR professionals supporting 850+ employees. Partners with the COO and President to drive people elements that align with institutional goals, ensures HR compliance and policy development, fosters a positive workplace culture, and leads initiatives in DEI, employee engagement, and workforce analytics. Responsibilities include end-to-end HR service delivery, recruitment lifecycle management, workforce planning, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, HR compliance, and liaison with legal counsel and unions. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm; salary range $175,000–$200,000; not-for-profit environment experience and strong leadership/communication skills are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred, but not required)
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Human Resources
- At least 5-10 years in a management position
- HR certification preferred (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
- Experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance
- Experience in unionized environments (preferred)
- Experience supporting large frontline environments (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Data-driven and analytically strong
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud-based payroll platforms (e.g., Paycom)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
