Job Summary
Chief Financial Officer responsible for leading Financial Strategy & Sustainability, overseeing corporate financial functions including accounting/financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, real estate and economic development, and property revenue services. Leads strategic financial planning, secures long-term financing, manages large-scale capital projects, and drives business transformation while partnering with City Council and stakeholders to ensure transparent financial governance. Requires established professional accounting designation, senior-level municipal/public-sector experience, and proven leadership in strategic initiatives, change management, budgeting, forecasting, and high-performance culture. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills are essential to align financial stewardship with the City’s mission.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Accounting Designation (or equivalent)
- Minimum 7 years of senior-level experience in municipal, provincial, or federal government settings or in major, multi-divisional corporate structures
- Experience in change management, strategic financial planning and analysis, financial management, and corporate finance leadership
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Evidence of ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive financial stewardship in a public-sector context
