Job Summary
Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting while partnering with business owners and executive teams to improve financial visibility and support strategic decision-making. Manage multiple client engagements across construction projects, providing guidance on job costing, WIP reporting, percentage of completion accounting, and land acquisition. Analyze financial performance to identify profitability opportunities and evaluate accounting processes to implement practical improvements. Travel throughout the Portland metro area, Vancouver, and Salem to serve clients in a fast-paced consulting environment. This role offers experienced financial leaders the opportunity to work across diverse industries and make a direct impact on client organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Senior financial leadership experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or similar role
- Extensive construction industry experience
- Strong experience with job costing, WIP reporting, percentage of completion accounting, project accounting, cash flow management, and project profitability
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable with hands on financial and accounting work
- Strong analytical, problem solving, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to quickly assess client needs and provide practical financial solutions
- Experience working with ERP and accounting systems
- Must be comfortable traveling throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding markets, including Vancouver and Salem
Desired Qualifications
- Land acquisition and land development experience
- Experience across multiple industries
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Ability to advise business owners, executives, lenders, and accounting teams
- Ability to develop financial models, dashboards, forecasts, and executive reporting
- Support internal controls, audit preparation, lender reporting, and compliance requirements
- Manage multiple client engagements and priorities in a fast paced consulting environment
- Partner with Controllers and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Support construction clients with job costing, WIP reporting, percentage of completion accounting, project profitability, cost to complete analysis, and margin review
- Provide financial guidance related to land acquisition, land development, and project planning when applicable
- Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and operations
- Evaluate accounting and finance processes and implement practical improvements
- Develop financial models, dashboards, forecasts, and executive reporting
