Job Summary
The Chief Financial Officer leads Easterseals Bluegrass’s nonprofit financial operations with emphasis on grant and fund accounting, regulatory compliance, and stewardship of restricted and unrestricted funds. Responsible for accurate tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of multiple funding sources (government grants, contracts, private funding), overseeing accounting systems and internal controls to meet nonprofit standards and funder requirements, and ensuring robust financial reporting for funders, leadership, and the board. Manages day-to-day accounting functions (general ledger, AP/AR, payroll), grant budgeting, expense allocation, audits, and regulatory reviews. Oversees medical billing revenue cycle activities, including CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS coding compliance, payer contracting, and KPI monitoring. Requires strong leadership, collaboration with stakeholders, and the ability to provide transparent, compliant financial stewardship to sustain the nonprofit’s mission.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting
- 3-5+ years healthcare or medical billing experience
- Demonstrated experience with grant and fund accounting, including restricted funds
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and financial reporting practices
- Experience preparing financial reports for grants, contracts, and funding agencies
- Experience supporting audits and maintaining audit-ready documentation
- Knowledge of internal controls, financial compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Supervisory experience and ability to lead accounting staff
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
