Job Summary
Lead the Executive Team's financial strategy by guiding annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring to align resources with organizational goals. Oversee comprehensive financial operations including grants accounting, internal reporting, and audit coordination while managing cash flow and banking relationships. Strengthen financial systems, policies, and internal controls to support scalable growth and ensure regulatory compliance. Serve as the primary liaison to the Board's Finance and Administration Committee, translating complex financial data for strategic decision-making. Build and develop the finance team within a mission-driven organization expanding its housing development impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 10 years of overall professional experience
- 6+ years of broad financial operations management experience
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audit coordination, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Demonstrated knowledge of fund accounting and grants management
- Experience developing and maintaining effective financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Strong leadership and management capabilities with the ability to partner effectively across an organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial information for executive and Board audiences
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other technology platforms
Desired Qualifications
- Nonprofit financial management experience
- Sage Intacct accounting experience
- Knowledge of the barriers to housing faced by individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Santa Cruz County
- MBA, CPA, or related advanced degree
