Job Summary
Direct and evaluate the Sheriff's Office fiscal function, overseeing financial reporting, accounting, investments, payroll, contracts, grants, and budgeting. Manage the accounting staff while ensuring timely submission of the annual budget to the Commissioners. Direct logistics for property inventories and the acquisition of goods and services, providing financial advice to optimize resource use. Develop policies that protect office assets and ensure compliance with federal, state, and county laws. Supervise staff through selection, training, and performance evaluation while maintaining effective relations with the Executive Staff, County Commissioners, and the public. Continually update knowledge regarding Oklahoma Statutes and Cleveland County ordinances.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field
- At least ten (10) years' experience in a fiscal-related field
- Four (4) years in a supervisory role
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License
- Knowledge of the Oklahoma Statutes and Cleveland County ordinances relating to financial and budget responsibilities
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures, and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
- Familiarity with electronic Accounting Systems
- Proficiency in both oral and written communication
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to analyze a variety of complex administrative problems
- Ability to provide effective leadership
- Ability to write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of personal and professional honesty and integrity
- Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Desired Qualifications
- Member of Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)
- Master's degree in the aforementioned fields
- Certified Public Accountant
