Job Summary
Lead the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority as its public face and primary decision-maker, reporting directly to the Board of Commissioners. Develop and implement policies that direct the agency toward long-range goals while ensuring regulatory compliance and financial sustainability. Build and manage a senior leadership team, oversee budget adherence, and cultivate external relationships with legislators, elected officials, and the business community to secure funding. Strengthen regional partnerships and enhance transit services across seven-county service areas, including MAX, RideKC, and IRIS, to maximize the benefit of the bi-state Compact. Collaborate with the Board to shape internal culture and external relations focused on transit mobility and transit-oriented design.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field
- At least nine (9) years of executive work experience in public administration
- Experience in a public transit organization
- Competence in management and administration principles
- Competence in policy development and implementation
- Competence in budget development and adherence
- Knowledge of public transit-related laws and regulations
- Interpersonal skills
- Strategic and critical thinking
