Job Summary
Chief Estimator leads and develops a high-performing estimating team for industrial facilities, delivering accurate, competitive proposals across civil, structural, and mechanical work. Responsibilities include bid interpretation of specifications, drawings, and technical data; ensuring quality, full-scope estimates through standardized processes; training and mentoring estimating staff; leveraging historical cost data, production rates, and estimating tools to improve accuracy and efficiency; leading estimate reviews and governance; and ensuring smooth turnover of estimates to Operations to support project execution.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial/process facility estimating and cost control across civil, structural, mechanical, or piping disciplines
- Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and cost control practices
- Proven ability to prepare comprehensive and complex proposals with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of the industries served by Loenbro
- Strong communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency across industry-standard estimating, scheduling, and ERP platforms, including HeavyBid, Primavera P6, and Viewpoint
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and perform effectively under tight deadlines and demanding workloads
- Willingness to travel periodically to job sites as required
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
