Job Summary
Chief Estimator responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the division’s estimating program providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives. Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures using the corporate estimating system/database. Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management to determine bid opportunities and strategies. Review all final estimate packages for accuracy before quotation and review scope/proposal letters for bid/negotiated projects. Participate in presentations to management and clients; may be responsible for closing the sale. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders; assist in studies, materials and methods, and cost estimates. Requires advanced management or technical training, strong organizational and supervisory skills, proficiency with MS Office, and ability to work under deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering/business field and 10+ years of experience in large-scale construction estimating are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business-related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in large scale commercial construction estimating and related functions plus knowledge of estimating objectives, techniques, and contracts
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
- Can be a combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering, Estimating experience
