Job Summary
Chief Engineer responsible for the maintenance and operation of the hotel’s physical infrastructure, overseeing repair, maintenance, and improvement of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural), ensuring safety compliance, and managing the engineering staff. Leads the Engineering Department, develops preventive maintenance programs, coordinates with other departments to maintain guest satisfaction, manages vendor contracts, participates in budget and occupancy planning, conducts performance evaluations, and mentors associates to uphold brand standards and service quality. Requires two years’ hotel chief engineer experience, strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.
Required Qualifications
- Two years’ experience as a Hotel Chief Engineer
- Working knowledge of applicable mechanical systems
- Must be able to communicate well with guests
- Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player
- Must have knowledge of departmental operations
- Must have knowledge of computers and training techniques
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
- Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and in making sound decisions
- Strong interpersonal skills and cordial behavior
- Excellent communication, organization, written and guest relations skills
- Strong organizational, project management and detail orientation skills
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- Refined verbal and written communication skills
