Job Summary
Chief Engineer responsible for overseeing hotel maintenance operations and ensuring all systems (refrigeration, heating, plumbing, energy controls) function efficiently. Leads maintenance staff and contractors, manages budgets and inventory, coordinates with Housekeeping and Security, and ensures safety compliance and timely completion of projects to maintain guest satisfaction and hotel operations. Key duties include supervising maintenance activities (refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, A/C, lighting, fire/life safety), monitoring energy consumption, overseeing contracted services, hiring/training/scheduling staff, coordinating with architects/contractors on bids and blueprints, managing maintenance contracts, developing maintenance programs for guest rooms and public spaces, and attending meetings with the General Manager. Requires strong organizational and multitasking skills, ability to communicate clearly, and readiness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays with potential on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance management
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, and energy controls
- Experience with budgeting, inventory management, and purchasing for maintenance operations
- Proven ability to manage maintenance staff and contractors, including hiring, training, and evaluation
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Familiarity with safety and compliance protocols, including training staff on emergency procedures
- Ability to work with other departments, vendors, and management
