Job Summary
Chief Engineer oversees all structural engineering for precast concrete products, leading internal design engineers and coordinating with subcontractors to deliver new designs, repair/retrofit details, and technical support for sales and production. Responsible for final approval of structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring codes compliance, quality, and cost-efficient solutions. Collaborates with sales, production, and leadership to align engineering strategy with business goals; mentors engineering staff; travel up to 10% to projects/locations; ensures manufacturability and safe design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Must be able to obtain PE license in all New England states, New York, and New Jersey within 1 year of hire
- At least 10 years of structural engineering experience, including leadership role within precast concrete industry or commercial construction
- Expertise in designing precast concrete structures, particularly parking structures
- Proven experience in managing teams and coordinating with third-party engineering subcontractors
- In-depth knowledge of precast concrete design principles and construction practices
- Understanding of cost implications of engineering design decisions and ability to reduce operational costs through efficient design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, SAP2000, ETabs, Eriksson software, and Salmon Technologies
- Strong project management skills with the capacity to oversee multiple projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental and client collaboration
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
