Job Summary
Chief Engineer oversees hotel engineering operations, budget adherence, staff supervision and training, maintenance plans for property and equipment, life safety system inspections and certification, and energy-conservation initiatives. Responsibilities include supervising engineering staff, posting schedules, managing overtime, enforcing SOPs and Loss Prevention standards, liaising with front desk during emergencies, handling room maintenance requests promptly, administering vendor contracts, monitoring inventory of mechanical, electrical, and kitchen parts, and participating in management training and meetings. The role requires service-oriented interaction with guests and staff, compliance with hotel standards and ADA requirements, and ensuring safe, profitable operation of the engineering department.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in hotel engineering or related field
- experience supervising engineering staff
- familiarity with life safety and emergency equipment inspection and testing
- ability to develop and implement maintenance plans and manage budgets
- experience administering vendor contracts
- knowledge of ADA compliance and regulatory standards
- ability to respond to alarms and determine emergency status
