Chief Engineer

Job Summary

Lead, supervise, and develop the Engineering Department staff while planning and coordinating maintenance projects, renovations, and capital improvements across the lodge, cabins, and campground. Establish and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all building systems, equipment, and public areas, ensuring safe, efficient, and guest-ready operations. Monitor project schedules and budgets, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with Georgia Department of Natural Resources, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements. Serve as Manager on Duty on designated days and respond to after-hours emergencies to restore facility operations. Obtain Certified Pool Operator, Underground Storage Tank, and EPA Section 608 certifications within 90 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of progressive engineering, facilities management, or maintenance leadership experience, preferably within hospitality, resorts, hotels, state parks, or similar facilities
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and general construction
  • Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment specifications
  • Budget management and purchasing experience
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs when necessary
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or obtain within 90 days
  • Underground Storage Tank (UST) certification or obtain within 90 days
  • EPA Section 608 Certification or obtain within 90 days
  • Available for evenings, weekends, holidays, emergencies and MOD assignments

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Respond to emergencies at any time as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred
