Job Summary
Chief Engineer responsible for maintaining the hotel facility, including all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment, in accordance with energy conservation and preventive maintenance programs. Ensures upkeep of guest areas, manages rehabilitation, expansion and special projects, and supervises engineers to uphold safety, compliance (ADA, building codes), and financial performance. Requires hands-on expertise in electrical and HVAC systems, boilers, building systems, and energy-conservation initiatives; strong leadership to train staff, interact with guests, manage budgets and vendor contracts, and coordinate preventive maintenance and life-safety inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Five years’ experience as a journey mechanic or engineer with a class A hotel company or related industry
- Two years’ experience as a head or assistant chief engineer in the same or similar environment
- Education: Graduation from high school and an apprenticeship/advanced training program for operating engineers or equivalent
- Licenses/certificates: electrician’s license if required by law or regulations, EPA certification for refrigerants
