Job Summary

Direct the operational testing, maintenance, and repair of the hospital's electrical distribution systems, emergency generators, and automatic transfer switches to guarantee constant emergency power readiness. Supervise a team of electrical technicians and shift engineers while ensuring strict compliance with Joint Commission, NFPA 70E, NFPA 99, and NEC guidelines. Manage preventative maintenance schedules via CMMS, coordinate critical system upgrades with clinical staff, and lead root-cause analyses for power anomalies. Oversee departmental budgets, vendor contracts, and energy efficiency improvements. This 1st shift day role requires a Master Electrician license, 8+ years of hands-on experience, and zero-sponsorship authorization for on-site work in Houston, TX.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in electrical systems operation and maintenance within a large commercial or industrial facility
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
  • A valid Master Electrician license or equivalent state-issued electrical engineering/technical certification
  • Deep technical expertise in medium-to-low voltage electrical distribution, emergency backup power generators, UPS systems, utility substations, and automatic transfer switches
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory compliance codes specific to healthcare, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 99, NFPA 110, and Joint Commission standards
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex electrical one-line diagrams, schematic drawings, and building specifications
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of managing technical teams and collaborating with multi-disciplinary stakeholders under pressure
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a closely related technical discipline
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) credential
  • Active membership or certification with the InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
  • Experience implementing smart-grid technologies, renewable energy integration, or advanced microgrid systems
  • Prior experience with electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) and thermal imaging/infrared thermography for predictive maintenance
