Job Summary

Oversee operations maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment while ensuring guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. Lead the Preventative Maintenance program to keep rooms and public spaces meeting brand standards, and manage the Engineering Department by training, supervising, and scheduling hourly staff. Coordinate payroll compilation, conduct performance appraisals and interviews, and chair the Safety Committee to organize fire drills and training. Handle guestroom maintenance requests, respond to emergency alarms, and manage energy expenses and budgeted expense allotments. Ensure compliance with health codes, fire safety systems, and certification requirements for boilers, chillers, and HVAC. Maintain key control systems, conduct daily property tours, and act as the emergency contact person. Review engineering staff hours for payroll and submit to accounting on a timely basis.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience
  • 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Current Certification as required by Federal State or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (i.e. HVAC pool operation electrical) property specific
  • Current certification and licensing to operate and repair the hotels boilers and chillers as required by state city and local legislation
  • Valid driver's license for the applicable state
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work well in stressful high pressure situations
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Ability to be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Ability to assimilate complex information data etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
  • Ability to be effective at listening to understanding clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions
