Job Summary
Chief Development Officer to lead NYPR’s fundraising and membership programs, expanding major gifts and building a sustainable donor portfolio. Drive growth of philanthropy from individual and institutional donors, including capital, endowment and other campaigns, and oversee a 30+ person development team. Collaborate with the CEO, Board of Trustees, and cross-department stakeholders to align revenue strategies with content, marketing, and digital initiatives; cultivate and steward donors, advance fundraising programs, and ensure secure donor records. Requires leadership, strategic thinking, fundraising expertise in a media/cultural organization, strong written and verbal communication, and a proactive, autonomous, results-driven approach.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Significant history of progressively responsible professional experience in advancement/development
- Experience securing major and principal gift level philanthropy
- Experience leading development strategies and tactics including capital/endowment campaigns
- Experience in media organization or cultural institution a plus
- Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting strategic vision into an operational model
- Proven ability to work with trustees and engage donors as fundraisers and donors
- Polished written communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to partner with CEO, senior team, trustees, staff, and donors
