Job Summary

Manage and coordinate assigned district probation staff by planning work, conducting performance evaluations, and overseeing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures. Assist the Chief Probation Officer in developing policies, implementing strategic agendas, and monitoring compliance for district activities. Evaluate lower-level staff case plans, prepare department performance reports, and oversee automation design and acquisition. Participate in regional travel for training and orientation while maintaining core Monday–Friday daytime hours with occasional on-call availability. This role supports the Judicial Branch's commitment to active community supervision and program evaluation within Omaha.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related fields
  • 1 year of supervisory, or management experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Managerial principles
  • Principles, practices and procedures of probation services and administration
  • Federal, State and local laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Rules, regulations and procedures of the Probation department
  • Probations techniques and procedures
  • Crisis and emergency management principles and practices
  • Grant administration and preparation
  • Report writing
  • Monitoring and evaluating subordinates
  • Delegating and prioritizing work
  • Managing small to large district probation staff
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving reports and statistical information and data
  • Preparing and administering grants
  • Handling stressful situations
  • Analyzing, recommending, and implementing changes in policies and procedures
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Using computers and related software applications
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
  • Regular travel within the district to support operations
  • Occasional regional travel for orientation, training, and educational workshops
  • Occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday availability
