Job Summary

Chief Dental Officer oversees the entire dental program, supervising dental staff, managing clinic workflow, and aligning operations with the Laguna Healthcare Corporation Board’s direction. Responsible for examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, referrals to specialists, and delivering high-quality, culturally appropriate care. Maintains regulatory compliance (CMS, AAAHC, HIPAA), oversees budgeting and resource allocation, leads staff development and disciplinary processes, and ensures accurate dental records and billing. Engages in community outreach, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve oral health outcomes and support organizational strategic goals. Demonstrates leadership, quality assurance, and clinical governance, while staying current with dental standards and technologies and ensuring patient-centered care across all ages.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD or Doctor of Dental Surgery from an accredited institution
  • Current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Dentist in any US state or DC
  • Current DEA License
  • Current BLS or ACLS certification
  • Five (2) years of professional clinical experience as a Dentist
  • Two (2) years of supervisory/managerial experience
  • Experience working in Native American or underserved community preferred
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA-compliant electronic dental records
  • Knowledge of dental clinical operations, accreditation requirements, and public health dentistry
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and coaching skills
  • Proficiency with Dentrix, MiPACS, RPMS or equivalent EHR systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel to LHC facilities as needed
  • Compliance with confidentiality and background checks including potential background investigations and drug screening
  • Ability to supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance (federal, state, tribal)
