Job Summary
Chief Bridge Engineer needed to lead DOT bridge and transportation structures projects in the Southeast. Serve as Structures Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead; direct analysis, design calculations, and production of structural drawings and specifications; perform QA/QC reviews; lead marketing efforts for project pursuits; mentor junior engineers and support construction phases. Requires ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering, licensure as PE/SE (Florida preferred), and 15+ years post-registration structural experience with 20+ years in bridge design/production. Proficiency with multiple design tools (AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenBridge Modeler, Leap Bridge, FB Multi-Pier, STAAD, etc.) and FDOT standards. Strong leadership, communication, and project-management skills; Florida PE/SE preferred; sign-on bonus offered.”
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer
- 15+ years post registration structural engineering experience
- 20+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience
- Experience with a variety of bridge design software (e.g., FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets)
- Proficiency in Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms
- Ability to guide junior staff and participate in design and detailing of bridge projects
- Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus
- Experience with post-tensioning applications is a plus
- Experience with straddle bent design is a plus
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
Desired Qualifications
- PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida Registration
- Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Experience with post-tensioning applications is a plus
- Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Experience in leading multi-discipline bridge projects of varying technical complexity
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms; Microstation/GEPoPAK/OpenBridge Modeler would be a plus
