Job Summary
Conduct personal care activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, toileting, and transferring clients in accordance with the plan of care assigned by the Director of Nursing. Perform homemaking tasks such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, and cleaning while maintaining a safe, healthy environment. Provide emotional support, companionship, and socialization through conversation and recreational activities. Accompany clients to doctor's appointments upon approval and report changes in client status or emergencies to the nursing supervisor. Maintain confidentiality of client information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and adhere to infection control and safety procedures. Complete orientation training, including GEMS and Infection Control modules, and accurately document activities on time sheets and weekly activity sheets.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a 76 hour certified homemaker-home health aide training program approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
- A current, valid homemaker-home health aide certificate in good standing issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
- Ability to pass a written/oral competency examination with a minimum score of 70%
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency and clinical competencies related to the skills required of a certified homemaker-home health aide
- Ability to read, write, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with the elderly, disabled and sick
- Ability to work effectively with the demands of the job
- Must be flexible with work hours and location
- Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 pounds
