Job Summary
Conduct interactive virtual chess sessions teaching fundamentals, openings, tactics, and endgames while personalizing lesson plans to match students' age, skill level, and pace. Foster logical reasoning and strategic planning through gameplay, then assess progress by providing regular feedback and guiding personalized development plans. Prepare learners for local, national, or online tournaments while utilizing platforms like Lichess and Chess.com, and deliver live demonstrations via Zoom. Maintain a positive learning environment encouraging participation and problem-solving. Flexible remote hours and competitive compensation based on expertise and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in playing and/or teaching chess
- Ability to explain complex strategies in a simple and engaging manner
- Experience working with children, teens, or adult learners
- Strong communication, patience, and instructional skills
- Passion for teaching and mentoring
- Active account on Lichess, Chess.com, or similar chess learning platforms
- Proficient in using online chess tools for instruction and demonstration
- Stable internet connection with a professional setup suitable for virtual teaching
- Experience using Zoom for conducting live online sessions
Desired Qualifications
- No formal degree required, but certifications or achievements in chess (FIDE ratings, tournament participation) are preferred
