Job Summary
Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 energetic elementary students using a structured curriculum to teach fundamentals, sportsmanship, and problem-solving. Manage lively classrooms with confidence, follow school safety protocols including supervision during arrival and dismissal, and travel to various local school sites assigned by the manager. Teach weekday afternoons between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with a flexible schedule of 1 to 5 classes per week based on local availability. Requires reliable transportation, experience working with children, and a strong grasp of chess fundamentals. Candidates must reside in Lakewood, CO, as relocation assistance is not provided. Full training, ongoing support, and free chess classes are included.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar)
- Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions
- Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor
- Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship
- Strong grasp of chess fundamentals
- Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life problem-solving
- Reliable personal transportation and the ability to drive between locations
- Availability on weekday afternoons, with class start times falling within the 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM window, to teach 1–5 classes per week
