Job Summary
Lead and inspire students in chess activities and teach the fundamentals from basic rules to advanced strategies, ensuring each child progresses at their own pace. Foster strategic thinking, good sportsmanship, and a positive, collaborative environment. Implement BAM! Chess Programs using provided lesson plans, organize matches, and encourage friendly competition among students. Expect 1-2 years of teaching chess or a strong chess background, excellent classroom management, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass background checks and TB testing as required by schools. This role emphasizes hands-on chess instruction in an after-school, on-campus setting with a part-time schedule (2 hours per week). Wage is $25/hour. Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in teaching chess or strong background in the game
- Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring
- Excellent class management skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license or State ID
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to provide TB test proof if required by school
- Willingness to undergo additional training
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 20-50 lbs.
