Job Summary
Chemistry Teacher at Tiverton High School in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The successful candidate will hold RI teaching certification for secondary grades chemistry (7–12) with an undergraduate education degree; a Master’s Degree in High School Science is preferred with a concentration in Biology and Anatomy. Responsibilities include planning and delivering standards-aligned chemistry instruction, promoting critical analysis through discussion of science topics, encouraging independent student thinking, applying research-based instructional practices, and preparing lessons and materials. The role involves contributing to IEPs/504s and health plans for students with unique needs, facilitating student learning with collaborative grouping structures, ensuring high-level student engagement, maintaining documentation, coordinating instructional delivery logistics, and engaging in ongoing professional learning communities and regular planning with colleagues, students, and parents. Emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and belonging, with a district Title IX information link provided. Preference given to candidates who articulate commitment to inclusivity and belonging.
Required Qualifications
- Rhode Island Department of Education Secondary Grades Chemistry 7th–12th certification
- RI Teaching Certification
- Undergraduate Degree in Education; Master’s Degree in High School Science preferred with concentration in Biology and Anatomy
- Commitment to PD credits as required by contract and certification
