Job Summary
Monitor equipment functionality, maintenance, quality control, and records while troubleshooting issues and setting technical workflows for the Chemistry section. Process specimens, report results, and oversee training and competency assessments for staff in accordance with regulatory requirements. Review, troubleshoot, and document Clinical Chemistry Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance issues, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission and state/federal laws. Manage inventory of reagents and quality control materials, collaborate on Standard Operating Procedures, and act as the point person during surveys. Assign Proficiency Testing specimens and investigate unacceptable results, while maintaining current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensure. Day shift with rotating weekends, holidays, and night coverage; full-time role.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in high-complexity testing in the specialty of Chemistry
- Minimum 1 year of experience in high-complexity testing in the specialties of Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Transfusion Services/Blood Bank, and Microbiology
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist License
- Must demonstrate a strong attention to details
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships
- Ability to develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement
- Day shift, rotating weekends, holiday and night shift coverage
