Job Summary
Teach chemistry and biology to high school students at East High School, planning and delivering instruction aligned with state, district, and school curricula; develop developmentally appropriate, linguistically accessible lessons; establish a positive classroom climate; utilize multiple instructional strategies and technology; monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments; collaborate with families and colleagues, and ensure compliance with state and district policies; maintain regular attendance and participate in after-hours activities as required by the district.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, or will complete a bachelor degree program prior to the contract start date
- Valid Professional or Associate Utah Secondary Educator License, a valid Secondary Educator License and appropriate endorsement from another state that is transferrable to Utah, or will complete a teaching program prior to the contract start date that will lead to a Professional Utah Secondary Educator License
- Valid Professional or Associate Utah Chemistry endorsement
- Valid Professional or Associate Utah Biology endorsement
- Professional communication skills including, but not limited to: excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities; and empathic listening and persuasive speaking skills
