Job Summary
Chemist position at SGS responsible for analytical testing and reporting of products such as crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, LPG & LNG gases. Duties include hands-on laboratory analysis, operating gas chromatography and other lab equipment, guiding/mentoring laboratory technicians (potential supervisory duties), maintaining current knowledge of analysis methods and safety/reporting techniques, and performing additional duties as assigned. Must be able to work a rotating schedule including overtime and night shift. Located in Houston, TX with in-person work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related science (preferred) or equivalent work experience
- minimum of one year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory
- Knowledgeable in ASTM standards
- Must be able to work with chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products
- Ability to differentiate colors by sight
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to synthesize information and work under pressure in line with SGS ethics and integrity
