Job Summary
The Chemist, QC 3 performs routine analysis of samples of raw materials, in process, and finished products in an FDA-regulated lab environment, testing strength, identity, and purity per established procedures. Responsibilities include troubleshooting specific batches to determine root causes, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements, investigating customer complaints, and preparing/reviewing QC documents and SOPs. Operates a range of QC instruments (HPLC, GC, IR, auto titrator, UV spectrophotometer, KF, etc.), maintains instrument calibration, and documents results. Expect 95% of daily work in testing and 5% on preparation/review of procedures; may require extended hours and occasional weekends; safety and quality compliance are emphasized. Qualifications include a BS in Chemistry or related field, 1–3 years of QC lab experience in relevant industries, knowledge of cGMP/GLP and 21 CFR Part 11, and proficiency with MS Office, with strong documentation skills. This role is exempt and located in North Brunswick, NJ.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry or related scientific disciplines
- One (1) year of basic chemistry techniques (can be academic)
- Minimum of 1-3 years QC lab work experience with industry experience in dietary supplements, food, or OTC manufacturing
- Certifications, Licenses, Credentials: N/A
- Solid understanding of cGMPs and GLP and is familiar with 21 CFR Part 11
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
- Good documentation practices and able to write simple, clear reports
