Job Summary
Operate and maintain water treatment plants for demineralized and service water production while performing chemical and analytical testing for boiler water, scrubber absorber chemistry, and wastewater. Calibrate laboratory instrumentation, monitor boiler chemistry to prevent corrosion, and ensure compliance with government regulations regarding water discharges. Assist in maintaining onsite sewage treatment plants and handle hazardous materials as a Hazmat team member. Respond to call-outs, work overtime, and rotate evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as required. Compile and report statistical data on plant performance and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry
- Prior experience in boiler/water analysis
- Knowledge and experience in water treatment plant operations and the production of deionized water
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with analytical methods and techniques, including calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Strong knowledge of proper analytical techniques and laboratory practices
- Ability to recognize changes in color for titrations
- Flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, and respond to urgent call-outs
