Job Summary
Operate assigned chemical processes to meet daily quality, production, and productivity goals while safely issuing work permits and troubleshooting plant issues. Assemble and disassemble production equipment, perform basic maintenance, and review/update Standard Operating Procedures and learning resources. Prioritize daily tasks with Production Leads and Supervisors, participate in monthly safety meetings and the Emergency Response Team, and cross-train peers on approved functions. Maintain a culture of safety through proper respirator use and adherence to 5S and Lean principles. Requires 2+ years of process operations experience, forklift certification, and ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Must be certified to operate a forklift
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a process operations environment
- Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Processing Technology or other related science
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a respiratory and physical test to wear a full-face respirator, as required
- Ability to wear a full-face, tight-fitting respirator; a fully encapsulated (Level A) Emergency Response (ER) suit; a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); and other tight-fitting and/or supplied-air respirators (SAR)
- Must be clean-shaven at all times for safety purposes
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Night Shift: Fixed 4 days on / 4 days off with 12-hour shift (EST). No rotating between day and night shifts
- Day Shift: Rotating 2/3 schedule with 12-hour shifts. Every other Sat, Sun, & Mon scheduled day off
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience handling chemicals or other hazardous materials preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with nuclear, electronics, or mechanical training
- Understanding of analytical processes for chemical processing
- Knowledge of root cause investigation processes and methodologies
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing principles
- Demonstrated ability to obtain appropriate assistance when confronted with problem situations
- Computer literate
- Ability to quickly learn technical chemical processes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to interact effectively with others to accomplish daily tasks and achieve the plant's goals
- Actively participate on ALAM's Emergency Response (ER) Team, including serving as an ER entry team member
- Ability to perform technical troubleshooting to resolve process issues
- Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders at multiple levels of the business
- Demonstrated positive attitude and commitment to safety
